It may be well to give also the two lists of shells recorded in the
Geological Survey Memoir above referred to. The first, of shells
"from the Post-Glacial beds at Witham, is from a manuscript list by
the late Dr. S. P. Woodward. . . . The shells were collected by
the late Mr, John Brown," probably from the shell-marl found in the
High Street, when making a sewer. The second list is of shells from
the railway cutting and brickyard, west of Sudbury (Mem. to Sheet 47).
