THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COUNCIL. 41 at the "Hall" with great cordiality by Mr. and Mrs. Hope; at Layer Marney Towers Mr. and Mrs. Maclean entertained the members most kindly at "afternoon tea" ; the Bishop's Stortford Meeting was made memorable by the lavish hospi- tality and kindness of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Mann, and all who were at Maldon will retain lasting recollections of the welcome given to them by the Mayor and Mrs. Fitch. The Council has also to thank Mr, Fitch for his liberality in hiring the barge "Rose" and the yacht "Matilda" at the Maldon meeting free of expense to the Club, and Messrs. John Taylor & Sons for the loan of the barge in which the excursion on the river Stort was taken. Full reports of the Field Meetings have appeared in the Essex Naturalist, in which the services rendered at them are gratefully acknowledged; but the Council desires specially to thank the following gentlemen, who as "Conductors" or in many other ways greatly aided in carrying out the several programmes :—Rev.
