THE ESSEX AND CHELMSFORD MUSEUM. 241 X. That before the proposed amalgamation takes effect, each Society shall put itself into a solvent financial position, so that no debts (other than life-memberships) are left unprovided for. XI. It is agreed that the proposed amalgamation shall not take effect until a sum has been presented or promised, sufficient, in the opinion of the Council of the Essex Field Club and the Committee of the Essex and Chelmsford Museum, to warrant the establishment of the proposed institution. XII. In the event of the fund for the establishment of the Museum not being raised within three years of the first issue of the proposed appeal to the members and the public mentioned in paragraph I. (c), any agreement between the two Societies shall terminate, and each shall resume its original position in all respects; any expenses incurred in promoting the scheme to be borne equally by each Society. Any collections, specimens, or books presented, bought, collected, or exchanged for during the before-mentioned term of three years, shall be the property of the Society to which they may be presented, or by which they are bought, collected, or ex- changed for. We, the undersigned, being a Committee appointed to frame a scheme for the amalgamation of the two Societies, hereby approve and confirm the above stipulations. (Signed) FRED.
