Clitellum composed of five, six, eight, or more segments, in the British
species, commencing on the 24th or some more posterior segment.
Male pores on segment 15 as in Lumbricus.
Tubercula pubertatis variable: absent, on alternate segments, or
forming a band along part or whole of the ventral side of the
clitellum.
Colour more variable than in Lumbricus: red-brown, rose-red, flesh,
sienna-brown, yellow, green, or grey.
First dorsal pore either between segments 3 and 4, or posterior to
this.
Spermathecae absent or variable in number.
