5 consist of red earth, presents many of the characteristics of a Red-hill. This, your Committee proposes to examine at an early date, as well as other mounds at Goldhanger and elsewhere. For the continuation of the work, further funds are absolutely necessary. The second instalment of the sum granted by the Essex Field Club will soon be forthcoming, and one or two other subscriptions have come in or been promised, including five guineas from the Royal Archaeological Institute and three guineas from the British Archaeological Association. The total of these will not suffice, however, for even one season's work, and your Committee proposes shortly to appeal for further funds to other scientific bodies and to individuals likely to be interested. I. CHALKLEY GOULD, Chairman. H. WILMER, Hon. Secretary and Treasurer. 26th March 1907.
