The first Sleeting of the Winter Session was held, as usual, in the Physical Lecture Theatre of the Municipal College, Romford Road, Strat- ford, at 3 o'clock on the above afternoon. Sir Arthur Smith Woodward, F.R.S., etc., President, occupied the chair. The following new members were elected :— Mr. Laurence S. Harley, of 13, Harefield Road, Crouch End, N.S. Mr. Avery exhibited some water-colour and other topographical draw- ings of the West Ham neighbourhood, which he had recently acquired from the Gardner-Coates collection. Newton exhibited two interesting manuscripts of John Brown, of Stanway. One of these is a catalogue, of 38 pages, of Fossil Mammalian remains from localities in Essex, viz., Walton, Hedingham, Saffron Walden, Great Clacton, Grays Thurrock, Ilford, Lamarsh, Ballington, Copford, Col- chester, Harwich and Felixstowe, also from East Barnet, Cromer, etc. This MS. is especially interesting as having on page 34 the signature of "John Brown."
