IT is with deep regret that we chronicle the death, on January 25th, 1928, following an operation, of one of the Club's, original members, and past presidents, and one of its most faithful adherents. Robert Miller Christy came of old Quaker stock. He was the eldest son of the late Robert Christy, of Chignal St, James, near Chelmsford, where he was born in May, 1861. From childhood he evinced remarkable interest in natural history ; even during his school days at Bootham School, York, he collected and examined conchological and ornithological speci- mens, and wrote on these and cognate subjects, thus beginning a long succession of articles, on the most diverse topics, which continued throughout his life, and which culminated in the account of "A Remarkable Gall on the Osier," which appears in the present issue. His wide range of interests and mental versatility were extraordinary—and every subject had to be written upon at length, and with much labour of research. In early manhood he went to Manitoba and spent over a year there camping and exploring with the celebrated naturalist, Ernest Thompson Seton, with whom he thus began a. lifelong friendship. He never married.
