Council, it will be seen that, disregarding the artificial material which has been dumped upon the original marsh-surface, the Recent Alluvium of the Lea at these points is nowhere more than 61/2 feet in thickness, and is immediately underlain by Pleistocene Valley Gravel and Brickearth, which is at least 15 feet thick (exposed).
