The Child Vault would thus be directly beneath the Child Monument in the church above. It had been intended to inspect some prints of Wanstead exhibited in the Club House of the Wanstead Golf Club, but as it was by this time nearly 6 o'clock, it was found necessary to forego this pleasurable item, and the bulk of the party therefore made its way to Peach's Cafe in the High Street, where tea had been arranged for. After tea the President proposed the best thanks of the visitors to Mr. Hall Crouch for his valuable services during the afternoon and for his kindly thought in presenting the little souvenir of the visit. These were warmly accorded and the company dispersed. FIELD MEETING AT SOUTH OCKENDON AND PURFLEET (642ND MEETING). SATURDAY, 12TH MAY, 1928. A combined botanical and antiquarian excursion to South Ockendon, Stifford and Purfleet was undertaken by just over thirty members on the above date, Mr. L. S. Harley acting as organiser and conductor of the meeting.
