The President declared that Mr. W. E. Glegg, Mr. F. W. Thorrington, Mrs. A. R. Hatley, Mrs. W. Boyd Watt and Miss A. M. Dofort had been duly elected members of the Council. The Hon. Secretary reported that, no further nomination having been received, Mr. D. J. Scourfield, I.S.O., F.L.S., etc., stood re-elected as President for the ensuing year. The announcement was very warmly received and the President expressed his thanks. The following persons were declared duly re-elected to their respective offices, they having been duly nominated at the preceding meeting and no further nominations having been sent in, viz. :— As Hon. Treasurer, Mr. John Avery, F.C.A. As Hon. Librarian, Mr. Stephen J. Barns. As Hon. Secretary, Mr. Percy Thompson, F.L.S. As Hon. Editor, Mr. Percy Thompson, F.L.S. As Hon. Asst. Curator (at the Forest Museum), Miss V. Oxley. Mr. C. Hall Crouch and Mr. W. H. Ryde were re-elected auditors for the ensuing year. The members of the Forest Museum Committee were re-elected for a further year. The President asked Sir Arthur Smith Woodward to take the Chair, while he delivered his Presidential Address on "Water-surface Plants and Animals, with Special Reference to the Surface-tension Factor in their Environment." The address was abundantly illustrated by specimens, by lantern diagrams, and by various experiments demonstrating the tension of the surface-film of water. At its conclusion, the Chairman proposed the thanks of the Club to the President and Mr. Paulson seconded, expressing the hope that the Address would be published in the Club's journal ; the motion, on being put to the meeting, was carried by acclamation and the meeting was then declared at an end. REPORT OF THE COUNCIL. Presented to the Annual Meeting, March 23rd, 1929. Ladies and Gentlemen, Your Council has pleasure in reporting that the activities of the Club have proceeded unimpaired during the past year. Fourteen meetings have been held, the attendances at which have been maintained at a satisfactory level. At the annual Fungus Foray held in October last, nearly 150 members and visitors were present during some part at least of the day's proceedings. The thanks of the Club arc due to Mr. C. Hall Crouch, Mr. Lawrence S. Harley, Mr. George Morris, Mr. J. H. Owen and Mrs. A. R. Hatley, for acting as Conductors at the Field meetings and to Miss G. Lister, Mr. R. Paulson, Mr. A. A. Pearson and other friends for acting as Referees on the occasions of the Fungus and Cryptogamic Forays.
