THE ESSEX FIELD CLUB. 319 " Altogether 95 species of basidiomycetes were found. Of these we " are able to add to the list a few species previously unrecorded. They " are not uncommon, except perhaps the Omphalia, but there are still a " number of such species that have eluded us hitherto. " The new records are :— Tricholoma panaeolum Fr. " Marasmius undatus (Berk.) Quil. (=Collybia vertirugis Cke.) " Omphalia camptophylla (Berk.) " Peniophora velutina (D.C.) Cke. " Hypochnus echinosporus (Ellis.) Burt. " Bovista plumbea Fr. " A discomycete that was found in abundance on hornbeam was " reported by Miss Wakefield to be Pezicula carpinea (Pers.) Tul. This is " probably the same as Pezicula Fagi (Phili.) Boud." Mr. Ramsbottom referred to the remarkable absence of such usually common forms as Laccaria laccata and Armillaria mellea. He mentioned the perennial character of certain genera of fungi, such as Collybia and those fungi which form fairy-rings, which might endure for as long as 400 years. In some cases, where the spores seem difficult of germination, the mycelium may go on and on indefinitely. Miss Lister said she also was able to feel satisfaction at the results of the day's researches, as sixteen species of mycetozoa had been found, most of them in immature condition. The most abundant was Didymium nigripes, seen in quantity on decaying holly leaves, and Comatricha nigra on fallen sticks and branches. The full list furnished by Miss Lister is :— Badhamia utricularis (Bull.) Berk. Physarum nutans Pers., both the typical form and var. robustum Lister. Fuligo septica (L.) Gmel. Leocarpus fragilis (Dicks.) Rost. Didymium squamulosum (A. & S.) Fries. D. nigripes (Link.) Fries. D. clavus (A. & S.) Rabenh. Stemonitis fusca Roth. Comatricha nigra (Pers.) Schroeter. C. typhoides (Bull.) Rost. Reticularia Lycoperdon Bull. Lycogala epidendrum (L.) Fries. Trichia varia Pers. Arcyria pomiformis (Leers) Rost. A. incarnata Pers. var. fulgens Lister.
