an orchestral trio engaged, arrangements made for police
attendance at the door and for the parking of motor-cars, and
elaborate Programmes for the Meeting printed.
Following a brief ordinary meeting of the Club, held to
transact routine business only, the President and Mrs. Scour-
field took up their positions in the College Entrance Hall to
welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of West Ham, who duly ar-
rived at five minutes before three o'clock, when the necessary
introductions were effected.
From 3 o'clock until 3.30, a joint reception was held in the
Great Hall by the Mayor and Mayoress and the President and
Mrs. Scourfield, the guests being individually announced and
presented. The following among others accepted invitations
