152 THE ESSEX NATURALIST. A. cinerea (Bull.) Pers. Frequent in small developments. A. pomiformis (Leers) Rost. Plentiful on sticks, etc.; sometimes sporangia were scattered over 11/2 to 2 feet. A. denudata (L.) Wettst. Infrequent. A. incarnata Pers, and var. fulgens Lister. Frequent ; sometimes in great quantity. A. nutans (Bull.) Grev. Fairly frequent in some parts. Perichaena depressa (Corda) Libert. A smear of yellow spores betraye the existence of some very dark brown sporangia on a hornbeam log. Later in the autumn Mr. Ross recorded further finds. Of 33 species found in October, two were additions to the above list. They were : Diderma effusum (Schwein) Morgan. A fine maturity on five holly leaves. Didymium Clavus (Alb. & Schw.) Rabenh. Two sporangia on a holly leaf. And in November, 37 species were recorded, including five not found earlier in the autumn. These additions were : Badhamia rubiginosa (Chev.) Rost. var dictyospora Lister. A large development on the underside of a piece of crab wood and on leaves lying below. Physarum compressum Alb. Sc Schw. A fine colony on the underside of a piece of wood. Diderma radiatum (L.) Morgan var umbilicatum Meyl. On wood. Trichia persimilis Karst. On hornbeam bark with three other species. Perichaena corticalis (Batsch) Rost. On a hornbeam log. Some species infrequent in September were more common in the following months. Specimens of some of the finds were exhibited. Mr. Syms gave a viva-voce account of "Some British Chrysomelid Beetles," which he illustrated by preserved specimens : in his talk, Mr. Syms described his own interesting experiences in tracing the life histories of certain forms. Mr. Crouch exhibited and described a dozen specimens of 18th century tokens, all of about 1794 date, issued at Woodford, Wanstead, Waltham- stow, Epping Forest, Chelmsford and other Essex towns, and presented four specimens (Colchester, Chelmsford, Braintree and Bocking, and Warley Camp) to the Club's Museum. Thanks to the various members contributing to the afternoon's pro- gramme brought the meeting to a close at about 4 o'clock. ORDINARY MEETING (821st MEETING). SATURDAY, 29TH NOVEMBER, 1941.
