MYCETOZOA IN EPPING FOREST IN 1946-7 57 Two small groups of Trichia contorta var. inconspicua which I exhibited at the January meeting had most of the sporangia burst, but a few which were unopened showed broad lighter bands of dehiscence. Some of the sporangia are stalked, a feature which Miss Lister tells me is rare in the species. Some years ago this species was widespread on grass stems and leaves in the Warren plantation, but these are unusual habitats; re- cently I have only found a few sporangia of the typical form on a bramble stem in that locality. In 1946 Leocarpus fragilis was first recorded on June 29th, an immature development was seen on November 20th, and fresh sporangia were found on Janu- ary 18th, but these failed to produce capillitium or spores; I think this is rather a remarkable run for the species. Badhamia utricularis, the species that feeds on the surface of Stereum hirsutum and other leathery fungi, had a poor season, only one development of plasmodium being seen and that in January; possibly the scarcity was attributable to the weather experienced after September. Perhaps the same factor caused the scarcity of Lamproderma scintillans. Craterium leucocephalum was recorded once only, but C. aureum, usually a rare species, was found three times. The sixty-eight species recorded for 1946-7 are:— Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa (Muell.) Macbr. Badhamia utricularis (Bull.) Berk. B. macrocarpa (Cesati) Rost. B. panicea (Fries) Rost.
