60 THE ESSEX NATURALIST countered and this species had now spread from the Theydon Bois area to the Cuckoo Pits. Mr. Broughton reported that large numbers of the small bush cricket (Meconema thalassina) had been encountered—all females and all on tree trunks. It was interesting to speculate whether they were feeding on the tree trunks and, if so, what was their food. He had also collected larvae of the Green Silver Lines, the Pale Tussock and the Grey Dagger moths. After a vote of thanks to Professor Ingold and those members who had assisted in the identification of specimens had been accorded, members were able to spend further time in studying the display before dispersing en route for their homes about 6 p.m. Mr. Ross has since supplied the following list of thirty-six species of Myce- tozoa recorded at the Fungus Foray: Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa Dictydium cancellatum Badhamia utricularis Tubifera ferruginosa Physarum nutans Diclydiaethalium plumbeum P. sinuosum Enteridium olivaceum Fuligo septica Reticularia Lycoperdon Leocarpus fragilis Lycogala epidendrum Diderma effusum Trichia scabra Diachea leucopoda T. varia Didymium nigripes T. decipiens D. squamulosum T. floriformis D. laxafila Arcyria ferruginea Stemonitis ferruginea A. cinerea Comatricha nigra A. pomiformis C. typhoides A. denudata C. pulchella A. incarnata Lamproderma scintillans A. nutans Cribraria argillacea Perichaena corticalis C. vulgaris var. aurantiaca P. depressa Ordinary Meeting (941st Meeting) SATURDAY, 20 OCTOBER 1951 This meeting was held at the West Ham Municipal College, the chair being taken at 3 p.m. by the President, Mr. Laurence S. Harley. About forty mem- bers and friends were present. The names of candidates for membership were read and the following per- sons were elected to membership of the Club: Miss M. Butler-Fleming, of The Open Air School, Fyfield. Mrs. A. M. E. Jeppson, of 23 Brancaster Road, Manor Park, E.12. Mr. D. S. Blair, ll.b., of 35 Maresfield Gardens, Hampstead, N.W.3. Mr. B. J. N. Edwards (junior member), of 8 Crowhurst Road, Colchester. Mr. K. C. Side, of 82 Victoria Avenue, Grays. The remainder of the meeting was devoted to exhibits by members. Mr. W. Howard spoke of the occurrence of species of Amelanchier in Epping Forest (see p. 39). He also reported that he had continued working on the Club's annotated copy of Druce's Comital Flora of the British Isles. Since his last report a year ago he had added a further 420 species which had occurred in Essex and had made 2000 more entries. The total number of entries was now 4000, referring to 970 species which had occurred in Essex. A considerable number of alien species not printed in the book had been added in manuscript. Mr. Broughton reported on the work carried out on the Epping Forest ponds survey. He illustrated his report by maps and charts and stressed the need for more volunteers for the work (see p. 33).
