126 THE ESSEX NATURALIST gale in Wanstead Park. He had collected some forty specimens, both adults and nymphs, on 10 November, 1952. He reported that the only certain record of the occurrence of this species in Britain was made in Cambridge- shire in 1839, though there were several doubtful records since. Mr. Robinson then gave his lecture on "The Changing Coastline of Essex" (see p. 79). The area dealt with was that between Harwich and the estuary of the Crouch, and interesting theories were put forward to account for the changes which were known to have taken place since records were kept. The lecture was well illustrated by lantern slides of photographs, sketches and maps, and on its conclusion several members took part in a discussion on several aspects of the subject, including the action of water on clay under varying circumstances. After the President had thanked Mr. Robinson on behalf of those present. the meeting was closed and members gathered for tea in another room kindly placed at their disposal by the Principal of the College.
