THE HISTORICAL STAGE IN THE LEA VALLEY 107 This paper completes a series in which the Late Glacial and Post-Glacial history of the Lea are discussed. It is now possible to use the framework thus developed to study the history in the valley of various groups of organism. The writer proposes to undertake this work over the next few years. The author is indebted to the owners of the various pits for permission to make visits and to publish this account, to the Keeper of the Department of Palaeontology, British Museum (Natural History) for allowing access to material in his charge, and to Mr. S. Hazzledine Warren for his usual co-operation. REFERENCES Hayward, J. F. 1957a. Certain abandoned Channels of Pleistocene and Holocene age in the Lea Valley, and their deposits. Proc. Geol.
