Maple Prominent (Lophopteryx cucullina). One found at Little Clacton on July 6. Coxcomb Prominent (Lophopteryx capucina). The only reason- ably common member of the family; it occurred from May 24 to July; seventeen individuals were seen at Colchester, East Mersea and Weeley. Pale Prominent (Pterostoma palpina). From June 22 to July; eight found at East Mersea, Little Clacton and Weeley. Buff Tip (Phalera bucephala). From June 21 to July; three found at Colchester. Chocolate Tip (Clostera curtula). From May 22 onwards; two were found, one each from Colchester and Weeley. Thyatiridae Buff Arches (Habrosyne pyritoides). Very common from July 4 to the end of the month, numbers falling off in August; from Colchester, East Mersea, Little Clacton and Weeley. Peach Blossom (Thyatria batis). One found at Colchester on July 1. Figure of Eighty (Tethea ocularis). One found at Colchester on June 21. Drepanidae Pebble Hook Tip (Drepana falcataria). One found at Weeley on June 12. Oak Hook Tip (Drepana binaria). One found at Weeley on June 12. Chinese Character (Cilix glaucata). From May 30 throughout the five months to September; common in both Cochester and Weeley. Lymantriidae Vapourer (Orgyia antiqua). Four were found in September and October at Colchester and Weeley. Over 200 eggs found at Weeley on April 7. Pale Tussock (Dasychira pudibunda). Two obtained at the end of June from Little Clacton. Brown-tail (Euproctis chrysorrhoea). From July 22 to August: five found at East Mersea and Weeley; also larvae from Frinton. Yellow-tail (Euproctis similis). From July 16 to August; com- mon from Colchester, East Mersea, Stanway, Thorpe and Weeley. Larvae from Colchester and Weeley. Noctuidae White-line Dart (Euxoa tritici). From July 25 to August; two from Weeley; also recorded from Witham in 1962.
