Heart and Dart (Agrotis exclamationis). From June 6 to August; so abundant that numbers were seen practically every night throughout June and July; recorded from Ardleigh, Colchester, Layer Breton, Little Clacton, Weeley and Witham. Pearly Underwing (Peridroma porphyrea). From September 20 to October; two from Weeley. Double Dart (Graphiphora augur). From June 27 to July; com- mon; from Ardleigh, Colchester, Little Clacton, West Bergholt and Weeley. Ingrailed Clay (Diarsia mendica). Possibly three from Colchester and Weeley, June and August. Small Square Spot (Diarsia rubi). From May 31 to September; common from Little Clacton and Weeley. Flame Shoulder (Ochropleura plecta). From May 26 to August; Common from Little Clacton and Weeley. Setaceous Hebrew Character (Amathes c-nigrum). From June 29 to October, very common, particularly in September; from Colchester, Great Bentley, Halstead, Little Clacton and Weeley. Double Square Spot (Amathes triangulum). From June 30 to August; common in July; from Colchester and Weeley. Six-striped Rustic (Amathes sexstrigata). One from Weeley on August 22. Square Spot Rustic (Amathes xanthographa). From September 10 to October; six from Colchester and Weeley. Flame (Axylia putris). From June 4 to August; common at Little Clacton and Weeley. Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing (Euschesis janthina). From August 1 onwards; common at Colchester and Weeley; one from West Mersea. Lesser Yellow Underwing (Euschesis comes). From July 30 to September; twelve from Bures Hamlet, Colchester and Weeley. Least Yellow Underwing (Euschesis interjecta). From July 30 to August; three from Weeley. Large Yellow Underwing (Noctua pronuba). From June 23 to September; common at Brightlingsea, Colchester, East Mer- sea, Great Bentley, Halstead, Little Clacton, West Bergholt and Weeley. Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing (Lampra fimbriata). One from Weeley on August 15.
