wards; five from Weeley.
Bordered Pug (Eupithecia succenturiata). From July 6 to
August; seven from Weeley.
Green Pug (Chloroclystis rectangulata). From May 8 to August;
variable in colour—mostly blackish; common from Col-
chester and Weeley.
V-Pug (Chloroclystis coronata). Three from Colchester in July.
Double-striped Pug (Gymnoscelis pumilata). From April 1 to
July; twenty from Ardleigh, Colchester, Clacton and
Weeley.
Autumnal Moth (Oporina autumnata). One from Weeley on
October 19.
November Moth (Oporina dilutata). From October 17 onwards;
thirteen from Colchester and Weeley.
Winter Moth (Oporina brumata). Few from Colchester in
December.
Magpie Moth (Abraxas grossulariata). From July 12 to August;
common at Bures Hamlet, Colchester, East Mersea, Little
Clacton and Weeley; larvae from Bures Hamlet and
Weeley.
Clouded Border (Lomaspilis marginata). From June 13 to July;
ten from Colchester and Weeley.
Scorched Carpet (Ligdia, adustata). From June 23 to August;
one each from Colchester and Weeley.
Sloe Carpet (Bapta distinctata). From June 3 onwards; three
from Weeley.
Clouded Silver (Bapta temerata). From May 26 to July; common
at Colchester, Little Clacton, Thorpe and Weeley.
Common White Wave (Deilinia pusaria). From May 26 to
August; common at Colchester, Little Clacton and Weeley.
Light Emerald (Campaea, margaritata). From June 9 to
September; common at Colchester and Weeley; some
individuals showed no trace of green colour.
Canary-shouldered Thorn (Deuteronomos alniaria). From
August 16 to September; five from Weeley.
Dusky Thorn (Deuteronomos fuscantharia). From August 23 to
September; four from Weeley.
Early Thorn (Selenia bilunaria). From Ardleigh, Colchester and
Weeley.
Spring form: seven from April 23 to May.
Summer form (July Thorn): twenty from July 24 to
August.
Purple Thorn (Selenia tetralunaria). From July to August; three
from Colchester.
Scalloped Hazel (Gonodontis bidentata). From May 25 to June;
six from Colchester, Little Clacton and Weeley.
Feathered Thorn (Colotois pennaria). From October 18 onwards ;
two from Weeley; also reported from Little Clacton.
Scalloped Oak (Crocallis elinguaria). From July 20 to August;
common at Colchester and Weeley.
