From May 22 to October; abundant at Colchester, Great Bentley, Little Clacton and Weeley. Bordered Beauty (Epione repandaria). One from Weeley on August 2. Speckled Yellow (Pseudopanthera macularia). From May 24 to June; nine from Little Clacton, Weeley and Witham. Dotted Border (Erannis marginata). From April 12 to June; three from Clacton and Little Clacton. Pale Brindled Beauty (Phigalia pilosaria). A single melanic male was captured indoors on March 7 at Colchester. Peppered Moth (Biston betularia). From June 21 to August; nineteen from Colchester, Little Clacton and Weeley; nearly all were melanic. Willow Beauty (Cleora rhomboidaria). From June 22 to August; seven from Colchester and Little Clacton. Mottled Beauty (Alcis repandata). From June 14 to August; very common at Colchester, Little Clacton and Weeley. Engrailed and Small Engrailed (Ectropis biundulata and E. crepuscularia). From May 5 to August; twenty-two from Colchester and Weeley. V-Moth (Itame wauaria). From July 20 to August; twelve from Colchester and Weeley. Brown Silver Line (Lithina chlorosata). From May 24 to June; four from Weeley. Latticed Heath (Chiasmia clathrata). From May 24 to August; ten from Weeley. Zygaenidae Five-spot Burnet (Zygaena trifolii). From June 29 to July; locally abundant at Thorpe; a few from Tiptree and Weeley; larvae from Walton. Six-spot Burnet (Zygaena filipendulae). Locally abundant at Thorpe in July. Hepialidae Ghost Moth (Hepialis humuli). From June 23 to July; five from Weeley. Common Swift (Hepialis lupulina). From May 31 to July; very common at Ardleigh, Colchester and Weeley; one indivi- dual in September. Satyridae Wall (Pararge megera). From June 6 to August; common and widespread.
