BOOK REVIEW 235 An impressive feature of Miss Worsley's book is the respect with which the author refers to local traditions. It is pleasant to observe these quiet tributes paid by the scholar to the strength of an oral record that may well extend back in time beyond the building of the present church. It is felt that this book has an interest for a readership far wider than those who are connected with the parish in a personal way. As a micro- cosm of English history it should be read by all who care for that continuity with the past which alone makes the future meaningful. As a record and description of one particular English church, it is a model worthy of emulation. Alan Heathcote.
