Not common; mainly found in the shingle areas of the Colne Bar and Eagle. Tubes attached to shells of Modiolus and stones (Colne Bar, 24.5.1962). Bradwell Power Station water intake culvert (1964 and 1965). Tubularia larynx Ellis & Solander Not common; found on stations TL.2, TL.4, Line 1.3, and off- shore in 1960 and 1962. Bradwell Power Station water intake culvert (1964). BOUGAINVILLIIDAE Bougainvillia ramosa (van Beneden) One record only; from Bradwell Creek (1961), but may be common. Campanulariidae Obelia dichotoma (Linne) Fairly common in Bradwell Creek and along the shore at Bradwell (1960-65), but probably common elsewhere. Attached to shells, etc. Obelia longissima (Pallas) One record only from the shore at Bradwell. Laomedia flexuosa Hincks Occasional records, specimens attached to shells; Bradwell Creek and station S.14 (1960) and Eagle (25.5.1962). Sertulariidae Dynamena pumila (Linne) Common and widely distributed, mostly in association with other hydroids and attached to algae. Lower shore and below low-water mark. Sertularella polyzonias (Linne) Only a few identifications made. Station S.7 (1960). May be common. Sertularella sp. Common on clean shelly bottoms. No specific identifications were made from routine bottom samples but S. polyzonias is most likely included. Abietinaria abietina (Linne) Occasional, with other hydroids on shelly bottoms. Station HB.2 (1960).
