Sertularia cupressina (Linne) Mostly from off-shore areas on clean shelly bottoms. Dredged in Swire Hole (19.7.1962). Plumulariidae Kirchenpaueria pinnata (Linne) Occasional on shelly bottoms. At Thirslet Spit and in Thirslet Creek in 1960. Also recorded from stations C.5, N.2, S.6, S.7 and S.13. Plumularia setacea (Ellis & Solander) A few records from Bradwell Creek and some bottom sampling stations, TL.4, N.2, HB.3, S.13, S.16 and S.21 (1960). Nemertesia antennina (Linne) Rare; dead colonies sometimes washed up on the shore at the seaward end of the Blackwater. May be common off-shore. Class SCYPHOMEDUSAE Order Hydromedusae Rhopalonematidae Aglantha digitalis (O. F. Muller) Recorded as var. rosea (Forbes) in plankton hauls in June and July 1960. Not common. Order Semaeostominae Pelagiidae Chrysaora hysoscella (Linne) Occasional and sometimes common in the summer. Cyaneidae Cyanea capillata (Linne) Recorded by the Essex Field Club in the Blackwater, 1888 (Cole, 1888), and in the Colne (Sorby, 1903) as C. lamarcki. AURELIIDAE Aurelia aurita (Linne) Occurs from April until October, but is most common from May until August in all years. Generally common.
