Cirratulus filiformis Keferstein Bradwell shore September 1959, February and July 1961. Heterocirrus sp. Bradwell shore; September 1958. Chlorhaemidae Flabelligera affinis Sars Commonly dredged at Thirslet, among sponges on clean shell and stones and also from similar bottoms in the Colne Bar area (24.5.1962). Flabelligera diplochaitos Hasse Occasionally found with F. affinis. Stylarioides monilifer Delia Chiaje Rare in 1960 but becoming commoner in 1965, being widely distributed on bottoms of mud and shell. Specimens were also collected from the Power Station intake culvert in 1964. SCALIBREGMIDAE Scalibregma inflatum Rathke One specimen from the Bradwell shore in October 1960. Opheliidae Ophelia sp. Bradwell shore, January 1960 and February 1961. CAPITELLIDAE Some capitellids were collected from Bradwell Creek but no full identifications have been made. Arenicolidae Arenicola marina Linne Lugworm Commonly occurring in mud and sand in the littoral zone. Bradwell shore and Mersea Flats, 1961-63. Maldanidae Clymene oerstedii Claparede Common in grab samples from bottoms of mud and sandy mud. Line 2a.St.4 (10.9.1960). Sabellariidae Sabellaria spinulosa Leuckart Common on bottoms of stone and shell where there is little mud. Particularly found forming characteristic sand tubes over old shells or 'culch' on mid-river stations: C.1 to C.8, and on stones in the Colne Bar-Eagle areas where it makes up the type of bottom known locally as 'ross'. S. alveolata may also be pre- sent, particularly in off-shore areas.
