Robins and Wrens were very common in most parts of the wood. Danbury Common, April 24. Four members attended this meeting. This open area of gorse and silver birch has in the past been one of the few areas where Red-backed Shrikes can be seen. None were recorded this year. Members were able to watch Tree Pipits in song flight, and these birds appeared to be more numer- ous than in 1965. Twenty-eight species were recorded. Birds seen or heard were as follows: —Marsh, Great and Blue Tits, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush, Robin, Dunnock, Rook, Jackdaw, Magpie, Jay, House Sparrow, Starling, Greenfinch, Wren, Linnet, Skylark, Reed Bunting, Yellow Hammer, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Blackcap, Nightingale, Common Whitethroat, Tree Pipit, Cuckoo, Swallow. Mill Green — Fryerning — Ingatestone. Seven members at- tended this meeting. Thirty-five species were recorded. Members were able to watch and hear the Lesser Whitethroat, and were also able to compare its song with that of the Common White- throat. Nightingales are still present in this area.
