The Horse Burials.
Horse No. 1 A 7 year-old mare. Age and sex estimated from
tooth development. (Brown, 1960).
Horse No. 2 Mature animal. No further information determin-
able from the small number of bones available.
Discussion
Assuming Stukeley and others to be correct with regard to
the position of the wall then these burials and the other casually
found human bones in the vicinity are within the limits of the
Roman town. From the numbers noted by Waightman it is ap-
parent that a fairly extensive cemetery exists in this corner of the
