- 11 - On the final day, Monday, we looked at the rocks nearer Swanage and in particular the Mammal beds above the Purbeck Marble at Peveril Point. The rock was hard, and the mammal fossils confined to a stratum only a few inches thick, but several teeth and bits of bone were carefully hammered out. The weather, the scenery, the geology and the good company, all helped to make this Swanage Trip well worth while, but the spade-work put in on our behalf by our leader, Ron Coates, turned it into a success. And now we look forward to next year's trip, which I am told might be to Derbyshire..... ********* WRYNECKS IN ESSEX — An ornithological note from Mike Parker Two wrynecks were reported seen in a garden in Brentwood on 26th July, 1970.
