General Meeting No. 1203 was held in the evening of Saturday 1st December at Brentwood School, 39 members and pupils of the school attended an illustrated talk by Mrs. L. Stack about her work at the Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust Reserve. The Club would like to thank the Headmaster of Brentwood School for allowing the use of the school library. Maureen Tollfree. Boxing Dav Ramble. On Boxing Day, 15 members of the Essex Field Club met at the Wake Arms public house near Epping. The intention was to walk along the Forest Way for the first six miles. This is the long-distance footpath between the forests of Epping and Hatfield. Our leader, Ron Allen, arranged for a car to be left at our anticipated finishing point at Ryehill while the rest of us drove off to park at High Beach. It was a cold raw day with a lot of mist about, and the mobile refreshment stall there was being well patronised by horse riders, walkers and drivers. When everyone had assembled, we set out across the Forest to the start of the Forest Way near the A121. In this part of the Forest the ground was covered with leaves whose colours had been intensified by earlier rain. There was Page 24
