Page -25- Reports of Meetings Meeting to Wall Wood and Hatfield Forest. 29th April.'74 Leader - John Fielding, Members of the London Natural History Society also attended this meeting and in Wall Wood we were able to see oxlips, cowslips and primroses in abundance along with their hybrids. Also here was the Early Purple orchid and the Woodland Violet (Viola reichenbachiana) A number of habitats were examined in Hatfield Forest and three violets were examined, the Dog, Hairy and Common Violet. Martin Gregory has submitted a full plant and fungi list which has been submitted to the Nature Conservancy Council and the County Recorder, Ron Allen, ------- Coach Outing to Slimbridge on 5th May. 1974. Kevin Byrne arranged a very enjoyable coach outing to The Headquarters and Collection of The Wildfowl Trust at Slimbridge, Glos, Over .160 species of Duck, Geese, Swans and Screamers could be seen there. Many are free to wander over the grounds and some are even free flying, Peter Scott and the Wildfowl Trust have done much for the conservation of waterfowl. Their best known success story is perhaps, the saving from extinction of the Ne-Ne ox Hawaiian Goose. In 1950, only 40 of these firds were in existence. The future looked bleak. The
