Our thanks are due to those named above, to my father for invaluable support, to the Passmore Edwards Museum and the Chelmsford and Essex Museum for the loan of stuffed animals, to the youngsters on the next stand for stamping membership forms with my name and address, and not least to the show organisers for giving us the opportunity to exhibit, and for their excellent organisation. ********** OTHER EVENTS Following the Dagenham Town Show,a display was put on at the Writtle Show and Pete. This was an open and far less organised affair. On the village green we had the rain to contend with and the wind, but the sun shone for most of the day. The display was centred on a full-size badger sett made of large boxes, sacking and turf; there were plenty of people at hand to talk to those attending the show and the three badgers, fox and hare pro- vided a great attraction. Again several people joined the Club and many more mammal records were gained. The Ingatestone Show was different again. Housed in one giant tent, we had a central position and so had no walls to put up drawings and photographs. A slightly smaller badger sett was constructed by Bob Cowlin and myself and photographs were laid on sloping boards low around the badger sett. This arrangement allowed people to walk all around the display as indeed they had to to see the other stands. Again there was a lot of interest, a number of records and several new members were gained. At the present moment (August) a Club display is filling one wall of the foyer of the Chelmsford and Essex Museum, complete with tape-recorded bird song. My thanks to all those that helped with Page 7
