27. No.1223 FUNGUS FORAY MILL GREEN AND HIGH WOOD, FRYERNING, 5th OCTOBER 1975 It was on 26th September 1963 that the Field Club last held a meeting at Mill. Green. On that occasion 86 different species were identified and laid out in the Fryerning Parish Room. At this Meeting 56 Members assembled on the Green just after 11.00 a.m. It was fine and sunny, and after the previous heavy rains, hopes ran high for a good collection of fungi. The party was split into three groups, each visiting different areas. It was not long before each Group was searching under Silver Birch, under bracken, or in ditches, with fine rewards for their efforts. At least 15 different Boletus sp. were discovered and four different Amanita sp. Under one Silver Birch tree a fine collection of Amanita muscaria were viewed, in other places the Common seemed to have considerable numbers of Collybia maculata, and easily the most numerous fungus Paxillus involutus. Identification took place in the Parish Room where the fungi were laid out for inspection, covering three trestle tables, a fine collection for such a rewarding meeting, especially after such a dry summer. Some members were fortunate in being able to see and hear some Redpolls in the Silver Birch. ' Mr. Geoffrey Kibby has added the following - "The list of Fungi from Fryerning is an extremely good one with many varieties, e.g. 1. Boletus discolor - a very uncommon rare fungus 2. Boletus decipiens - possibly a new British record,
