Essex road verges often contain woodland plants
surviving from woods long gone. If you know of road
verges rich in flowers and would like to record them,
then Mrs Mummery of 60 South Road, Saffron Walden,
would like to hear from you. Good verges can be given
special treatment by the district road authority to
prevent cutting during flowering periods.
Essex hedges and ponds need recording. If you would
like to survey these valuable
wildlife habitats in your home
area then contact Ron Allen
for details of the recording
scheme.
