23. EXHIBITIONS - Billericay A three-day exhibition entitled "Leisure 76" staged in Billericay Comprehensive School from 22nd to 24th April proved a great success. The Club's effort (on 24th only), thanks mainly to Ron Allen and Jean Daniels, turned out to be larger than was at first envisaged. When Ron made a recce on the previous night and discovered how much space had been allocated to us he hastily arranged the loan of some stuffed animals from Chelmsford Museum to augment the pictorial display he had in mind. The interest shown in the Club's activi- ties was encouraging and we were kept busy throughout the day explaining the aims of the Club, supplying hand-outs and attempting to answer all the natural history questions thrown at us. The Club's sign was cleverly drawn by Michael Daniels and other able assistance was supplied by Linda Daniels, Roger Hawes and Enid Bassom. A few back numbers of the Bulle- tin were sold to enable us to meet the cost of the exhibition. Dennis Brown ---oOo--- Writtle Agricultural College, Open Day An attendance of thousands on the first day of the weekend of 5th and 6th June prompted the idea of a Field Club stand on the Sunday. Ian Misselbrook and Ruth Phillips helped build and construct the stand and were kept busy explaining the difference between stoats and weasels or the importance of hedgerows res- pectively. Several thousands must have come past the stand since we were next to the plant sales section that had been well advertised.
