3. SEPTEMBER: Dunnock, our first "new" bird, Crows, common in Hornchurch up to about three or four years ago but missing since the loss of a large number of mature Elm trees in the area. OCTOBER: Goldfinches feeding on the heads of sun flowers. Magpies in great abundance, these only visited the garden in bitter weather in Hornchurch. NOVEMBER: A large flock of Long-tailed tits. DECEMBER: Coal tits joined the scrum on the peanuts and became regular visitors. JANUARY: Large numbers of Black-headed gulls appeared every morning the moment scraps were put out and seemed to spend the rest of the
