Later in the summer my cabbages became infested with white-fly which I attempted to combat with ladybirds collected from other plants. These would however have nothing to do with my aphids and flew off to pastures new of their own choosing, forcing me to resort to chemical means to save the crop. Does this indicate that certain varieties of ladybirds only feed on certain varieties of aphids? Florence Caldwell
