SUMMARY
The following are probably some of the reasons for the
increase and decrease of status. These are only
speculations:-
(a) Provision of conservation areas. Reserves.
(b) Provision of new habitats - motorways.
(c) Toxic chemicals, herbicides, etc.
(d) Destruction of habitat - lack of coppicing -
removal of hedgerows and woodland.
(e) Management of present hedgerows.
(f) Climate - it is possible that birds such as Redstart
and Nightingale are at the extreme of their range.
