Great Green Bush Cricket (Tettigonia viridissima) Usually associated with coastal areas and their creeks and estuaries, this large insect has several records around the Colchester, Tendring and Southend areas, probably indicating more where the Orthopterists have been, rather than the true distribution of this species. It should be found in rough, scrubby areas where this Bush Cricket seems to sit high in the vegetation until disturbed. There are large gaps in the Essex distribution, particularly the Naze area
