Light in colour, orange belly, wavy crest with no
break between back and tail.
Females No crest
Palmate Newt, Triturus helveticus
Light in colour, orange belly, webbed hind feet,
tail ends in filament, low straight crest.
Females No crest, webbed feet or tail filament.
Newt Larvae
The size of newt larvae greatly varies with age and
their form is roughly as illustrated. Crested newt
larvae differ in being more darkly coloured, as in the
adult form.
