8 to get to them. High road mortality can be avoided on new roads with the construction of underpasses provided enough notice is given at the planning stage. If you wish to know more about badgers and their conservation, Cleanaway, the Essex-based refuse disposal company, has sponsored the production of two leaflets about the conservation of badgers in Essex. One leaflet has been produced for landowners who have (or wish to have) resident badgers. It contains answers to many "Badger Questions" and offers practical advice on badger conservation. The second leaflet is for the general public and contains information about badger biology and behaviour as well as who to contact for advice, what to do if badger diggers are seen at a sett, or if snares are found. These leaflets were produced as the company's contribution to the Essex Wildlife Action Fund (administered by the Essex Naturalists' Trust).
