A beautiful— looking peanut may be a killer,
while a scruffy one may be safe. The only way
of knowing is to have it tested.
C. J. Wildbird Food Ltd. have led the way and
supported by the R.S.P.B. and B.T.O. have
formed the Birdfood Standards Association,
whose members will only sell safe peanuts.
Most large suppliers are joining. Their
advertisements will carry the seal of approval
as shown above. This does not appear to have
affected prices. Two firms advertise in the
R.S.P.B. magazine and if you buy a small sack
(28 lb. for about £12 including delivery) it
works out cheaper than many pet shops.
So make sure you are feeding and not poisoning
the birds this winter.

so if you don't want to buy in bulk pester your
