North American bird which first settled in the
Midlands and is slowly spreading over the
county - large numbers are now resident at Chew
Valley Reservoir in Somerset for instance.
Several of these unmistakable birds were seen
with their unusual blue bills, white -face
patches and cocked up tails.
Some 38 species were recorded in total,
including Great Crested and Little Grebe,
Cormorant, Mallard, Teal, Shoveler, Tufted
Duck, Pochard, Shelduck, Moorhen, Coot, Sedge
Warbler, Whitethroat, Swallow, House Martin and
Reed Bunting.
