4 ANNOUNCEMENT After serving three years as President of the Club, I am pleased to be able to announce the appointment of a most capable successor - Mark Hanson. Mark has served on Council for several years and as Editor has been responsible for producing 'The Dragonflies of Essex' and writing 'Essex Elm'. I wish him well and trust that he enjoys his term as President. JOHN DOBSON SECRETARY'S REPORT FOR 1989 During 1989 the Council met four times to arrange the running of the Club. As the Rules were very out of date it was decided to rewrite them for adoption at the 1990 A.G.M. The current practice of a three year term of office for Presidents involves a great deal of time and commitment and three Presidential addresses, and Council decided that Presidents would be elected for one year, with a Vice President who would become President the following year. In February we were saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Michael Parker, our Membership Secretary, Bird Recorder and long-standing member who did so much for the Club.
