14 this plan: 1. Location of rare butter-Fly colonies in Essex Details of any known colonies (or locations where the species has been sighted since 1980) are needed for the butterflies listed below. You are urged to give as much detail as pos- sible, including the exact location, so that the site can be re—surveyed to see if the species survive. Information will be treated in confidence and only revealed to those people doing the survey work and to those organis- ations that can help conserve the site. The risks of species loss by habitat loss is much greater than the risks from collectors — so please don't be secretive about these important colonies. Species where we are attempting to locate all known colonies:- Dingy Skipper Grizzled Skipper Brown Hairstreak Green Hairstreak Brown Argus Silver-Studded Blue (probably extinct) White Admiral Purple Emperor (probably extinct) All Fritillaries (probably all extinct except Heath and Pearl-bordered on nature reserves where they have been re-introduced) Marbled White Grayling
