Site Monitoring for Butterflies 1991 and 1992 Seasons Volunteers are needed to make roughly monthly (or more frequent) visits to one or two sites per person. Full details of the survey method will be sent to anyone interested - it is a new survey method much simpler than the widely used 'Pollard Walk' and aimed more at identifying the most diverse and important butterfly communities rather than measuring year to year changes in abundance. All volunteers will receive summaries of each year's results and be invited to winter meetings to review the progress of the surveys. Please write for full details, indicating any particular habitats (whether nature reserves or not) that you would like to survey. The Esse;; Wildlife Trust (formerly the Essex Naturalists' Trust) and Butterfly Conservation (the British Butterfly Conservation Society) are both registered charities devoted to wildlife conservation.
