Collections.
Some collectors lived in, or regularly collected in Essex; others acquired
Essex specimens by purchase or exchange. Some collections, like that of
Machin, were sold by auction and dispersed. In several of the older collections
the data labels are inverted, making it impracticable to extract information
from more than a small sample of specimens. The Doubleday collection lacks
data labels. The following collections have been studied:-
