A. unguicella (Linn.) Probably recorded in error, 1889-1890. Erica.
VC 18.69 Brentwood, 5 June 1889 and 19 May 1890 (Burrows diary). The diary was a personal
aide-memoire consisting of lists of names which are occasionally misspelt. Burrows wrote
"unguicana" (the spelling then in use), but I suspect he intended "uncana" (uncella) which does
occur at Brentwood. There is no Essex specimen of A. unguicella in the Burrows collection and
Thurnall (1902) does not mention this species. It is, however, just possible that the record is
correct.
