P. ostrinalis (Hubn.) NRR., 1893-(1903). Probably the same foodplants as P. purpuralis. For
many years the two were treated as a single species and they have only recently been separated
once more. HCH was of the opinion that both flew together in most localities. There seems,
however, to be no definite modern record of the present species, nor are there Essex specimens
in the British Museum (Natural History).
