Feral Pigeon Columba livia Small flocks of this species can be seen at most times of the year, usually about the margin of Lords Bushes. Collared Dove Streptopelia decaocto Can be seen, though infrequently, at any time of the year usually in small numbers (one or two birds). Cuckoo Cuculus canorus More often heard than seen, my first record for Lords Bushes in 1979 was on the 27th May, probably a single bird spent the summer of 1980 in Lords Bushes. Tawny Owl Strix aluco Present all year round and a pair is probably breeding, occasionally seen out in daylight mobbed by jays, magpies, and small birds. Green Woodpecker Picus viridis Noted usually as a single bird and perhaps more frequently in autumn and winter, though I have records for this species throughout the year. Great Spotted Woodpecker Dendrocopus major Noted mainly in the winter months with a maximum of two birds seen, though I have also heard and watched this species drumming and it probably breeds in Lords Bushes.
