Usually small (exceptions: Calopteryx spp. )and delicate species, with fluttering flight.
Large compound eyes set well apart on the head. Fore-wings and hind-wings similarly
shaped. At rest, wings usually 'folded' along the line of the body, or spread out, but
obliquely so (Lestes spp. and P. nymphula).
